Hi there ! :D
I'm so happy to see that Inherit the Earth has been re-released !

I've played a lot with the '94 demo on my Amiga, but have never bought the game cause it was only in German. So, I've bought this re-released and I am very impatient to receive it !

So, I was wondering : is there any soundtrack available for this game ?
You see, I've played the re-release demo on my Mac (by the way, thanks a lot for have made an OSX version !), and it brings me some good memories of the music...

So, if there isn't a soundtrack available, how could I rip the music files from the game ? The first solution would be (after have played the whole game, of course) to record the music directly while playing.

I was also wondering : in what format where the Amiga musics (I love the Amiga version !)? MIDI ? Is there any way to rip the music from the Amiga version ?

Thanks again ! And good work ! Re-release this game is a brillant idea ! :)

Well, the music is in MIDI format, so on a PC at least, you can copy the files that way. I don't know if it's the same on your Mac.

Of course this is only for your own use once you own the game; there's another (old) thread about that.

By the way, you can change the music by putting new MIDIs into the old filenames.

An official release of the soundtrack would be nice. Especially since I own a copy of the '94 release and the music files can't be pulled off the CD in that version.

No, it's not the same on Mac. I've read that on the ITE FAQ :
For the Mac OS X version, "we have digitally recorded the music as played by the original target instrument, a Roland MT-32. The games plays these digital recordings instead of the old MIDI scores."

On Mac, I have only 1 file, called "Inherit the Earth" for the game. It's a package, but I haven't found any sound files in it... :(  And not anymore in the Amiga version.

So, it would be nice to have the soundtrack, and it would be, of course, for a personal use only...
I think I will have to record it in "live" during the game, using (I don't know the equivalent for Windows) AudiHijack. That great app record every sound that comes from another app, you just have to choose the "source of sound" app. I've already made some games music rips with that method. Maybe it's the only solution for that game...

An actual audio CD soudtrack album is currently being considered. We hope to have more to say on this subject soon.

Oh ? It would be great ! :)
And the musics would be like in the game, or re-arranged ? In both cases, it would be a beautiful soundtrack CD.:)

JSM3050

I'd buy it regardless of which way it was done.

Hi
I have still the original Amiga CD Rom here. (German)
On this CD, there are all Tracks as Amiga MOD files (which can be played by fex by Winamp with Mod Plugin)

As Wyrmkeep relased the full Version of Labyrinth of Time, it is perhaps possible to release the Amiga Mod Files as well?

WyrmMaster

We don't own the rights to the German content of Inherit the Earth, so we can't authorize the distribution of those MOD files.

:D  :D  :D OMG!!!  Yaaaay!!!  As owner and propriator of The PC Game Soundtrack Database I must say that I approve of this decision.  I'll make sure to plug the soundtrack all over the site once it's released.  I've been a long time fan of ITE and have really developed a respect for WyrmKeep over the years.  I love what you guys are doing here, not just re-releasing old games, but bringing them back to life.  I enjoyed my original ITE floppy version but you CD-rom version is so much better.  I had been looking for LOT for years until you re-released it and not only did I finally get my hands on it, but now I can play it under XP.  Then of course, you go the extra mile and announce a ITE soundtrack in development!!!  My hat is off.  I can't wait to see what wonderful old adventure game your going to bring back to life next.  Kudos.  ...bysmitty

Glad to know you guys are going to release the soundtrack. Any announcements to make (like a release date? :))

WyrmMaster

There is a forum post about this already, but I'll repeat it here:

As mentioned previously, we are working on a soundtrack album for Inherit the Earth. Well, we can now announce that the original composer, Matt Nathan, will be arranging the music for the album. We hope to have it available to order by the late November.

JSM3050

Musta missed that.

Glad to hear it'll be out soon, though! :D
